This is one of the many times in my life where I need to do a lot of patient waiting. Trying to organise a job does require this. Over the last week I've spent days waiting by the phone for a promised call that never comes, is then promised for the next day, and doesn't come again. But that's all part of the job. Include that in the problems that come along with every job. One thing that is different about looking for work this time, is that I'm doing it living at my friends' house. There needs to be a balance between, on one hand, getting a job quickly to start getting paid and not outstaying my welcome, and on the other hand, waiting to get a good job. At the moment I've been offered a job teaching down in Guiyang, which would be ASAP. I should really accept this in the next day or two. But it's not the job I really want. The job I want is in Shenmu, a crappier town, but it's a better job. The only catch is that it is far less definite that I might get this job. What do I do? Accept the first though I want the second, or wait for the second and miss out on the first? Tough decision. See what happens over the next few days.
